This course is a technical introduction to the CICS environment. It begins with a review of the differences between batch and online application systems, then describes the role of CICS from the perspective of the user. The trainee learns how using CICS affects the development of an application program. Error recovery facilities and management facilities provided by CICS are covered as well as the various CICS programs, control blocks and tables used to process a typical transaction.
